The duty of an Officiant is to legally perform the wedding. This could be a rabbi, pastor, priest, or judge. Their duties include premarital counseling, performing the ceremony on the wedding day, and pronouncing you as man and wife. For their services, they usually receive some type of monetary compensation, and are invited to stay for the reception.
