Question: Go back
I am a bride, my fiance is in the Navy and we are having a military wedding.

I will be designing my own invitations and need help with wording. What is the formal way to word my fiance's rank?

Answers:

When creating a wedding invitation for a military wedding the most important rule to remember is that Mr. never precedes the groom's name.   If the groom is in the Navy and has a rank of commander or higher the rank precedes his name.  For example, if the groom ranks as captain, the formal way of wording is as follows:

Captain John Andrew Williams
United States Navy
